Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an interactive psychotherapy technique used to relieve psychological stress. It is an effective treatment for trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. Through EMDR therapy, the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma. Often, people get stuck following difficult life events, which causes intense suffering. Once the block is removed, healing resumes. EMDR is helpful for addictions, anxiety, chronic pain, depression, eating disorder, panic attacks, phobias, post-traumatic stress disorder, and self-esteem issues.
